Regular dental exams and professional cleanings are important to help maintain your pet's teeth and overall health. Dental disease can lead to severe pain and serious health problems including heart, lung and kidney disease. Early recognition, treatment and prevention of oral disease can be key in adding years of a happy and pain free life to a pet.
We at All Creatures are very passionate about dental health. We are equipped with state-of-the-art digital dental x-rays that allows us to evaluate the health of each tooth and the hidden roots where disease often hides. We use modern, safe water cooled electronic dental scalers and scraping instruments to clean each tooth thoroughly, above and below the gum line, then we polish your pet's teeth to create a smooth, bright tooth surface making them more resistant to plaque buildup.
Our two specially equipped dental stations look like your dentist's office, but without the chair. Since our patients must be under general anesthesia to have work done in their mouth, we highly recommend a full physical examination and pre anesthetic blood tests to ensure they can handle general anesthesia.
If tooth extractions are necessary, we use a high speed air driven handpiece, just like your dentist uses, to gently section and remove the tooth with minimal trauma. In many cases we will prescribe antibiotics and pain control medication to be administered for a few days at home.
