All Creatures Great and Small was created in 1984 to implement our belief that your pet is a unique living creature with a special place in your family. We believe that pets are psychologically and emotionally important to people, and our hospital is dedicated to that ideal. It is our goal to be a community resource of compassion, gentleness and individualized attention to the animal loving residents of Rockland and surrounding counties.

Meet the Doctors

  • Dr.
    Christina Miccio
    DVM

Dr. Miccio is our Medical Director and she has been working at All Creatures for over 29 years. In her words Dr Miccio says: Many people dream of becoming a veterinarian, I was always driven to become one. All of my focus my entire life has gone towards achieving my determined goal of becoming a vet.

My earliest memory is when I was 4 years old, I was found lost and crying, I was brought to a local police station. My mom had turned away for a moment and somehow I opened the garden gate and chased a cat several blocks away.

  • Dr.
    Ilan Rachleff
    VMD

Dr. Rachleff joined All Creatures in April of 2016. Dr. Rachleff grew up on Long Island and always had a menagerie of cats and dogs. During the summers, he would always take care of the classroom pets, no matter what species. Even at a young age, he wanted to be a veterinarian, but he was drawn to research science as he got older. After several years doing biomedical research, Dr Rachleff decided to pursue his first love, taking care of animals, and started working at a veterinary hospital as an assistant.

From there, he went on to graduate from the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. He previously practiced in New York City and recently relocated to Rockland County with his wife Laura, after the birth of their first son. They share their home with a Boston Terrier, Tiki (named after all time great Giants running back Tiki Barber) and a rescued Scottish Fold cat named Mungo. He is very excited to meet all of the wonderful owners and pets who visit All Creatures! Dr. Rachleff has a special interest in internal medicine and in furry and scaly exotics.

  • Dr.
    Mary Elizabeth Geary
    DVM

Dr. Mary Elizabeth Geary joined All Creatures in November 2016. Dr. Geary graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013 (Go BUCKS!).  Following graduation, she worked for the United States Army as a civilian veterinarian caring for military working dogs and pets of military families.  She and her husband relocated to Westchester County in the fall of 2016 and she is excited to be a new member of the All Creatures team!  Her professional interests include dermatology, endocrinology, and wound management.  In her spare time, Dr. Geary enjoys hiking, painting and spending time with her husband and their three cats.

  • Dr.
    Narciso James Melendez
    DVM

Dr. Melendez joined All Creatures in December of 2017. In his words he became a vet because “caring for animals is a part of who I am as a person, it is part of my fiber, it literally defines me”. He describes his childhood as being a latch key kid with a single parent who worked long hours. He was an only child growing up in a tough neighborhood in New York City.  He loved pigeons, as a child he would watch his neighbors fly them from roof lofts in large numbers over the roof of his building.  It was truly a spectacle to watch hundreds of pigeons in different colors and sizes fly above me, he said. Surrounding myself with animals provided me with the love and companionship I was lacking as a child. The upside to my situation was that my parent felt guilty for leaving me alone for long periods of time so I got away with taking in every stray that came my way. I took in dogs, cats, guinea pigs, birds and more. People in the neighborhood knew who to contact if there was an animal in need.

Prior to All Creatures Dr.Melendez practiced in the East Village of New York City. He graduated form the St. Matthews University School of Veterinary Medicine in the Cayman Islands in 2014. Dr. Melendez is bilingual and speaks fluent Spanish.  He has worked closely in the past with various rescue organizations, such as City Critters and rescue organizations on the island of Puerto Rico. He has a strong passion for birds and presently volunteers his time at the Wild Bird Fund. He shares his home with his two Cats Phoebe and Mittens and an assortment of pigeons, which range from ornamentals, to flying birds as well as rescues cases.
